MOTION
This piece explores the dissection of a poem of mine, written in the Japanese Tanka format: 5-7-5-7-7. The concept is to dissect the poem, while evoking
a sense of ambiguous discovery and curiosity within daily travels. The approach illustrates phrases of the poem into context by using video and overlaying
hand-written text in ink on tracing paper. The analog nature of the ink gives it a starkness and honesty, while the masking of lines explores ideas of
dissembling, revealing and hiding both video and the five lines.
